Set up a Dynadot API key so InfraNest can manage your domains automatically. This article is for anyone connecting a Dynadot account to InfraNest.

## Overview
- InfraNest connects to Dynadot using an API key and a matching signing secret.
- You create both in your Dynadot account, then paste them into InfraNest.
- You'll also need to approve InfraNest's IP address in Dynadot, or your requests will be refused.
- An optional webhook setup lets Dynadot notify InfraNest the moment something changes.

## Create the key
1. Sign in to **Dynadot**.
2. Go to **Tools** → **API**.
3. Create an **API key** and choose the **v2 (REST)** version. InfraNest uses v2.

4. Copy the **API key** and the **API secret** shown next to it.
5. Paste both into InfraNest — see **Connect Dynadot**.

> [!WARNING]
> The secret signs every request. Store it somewhere safe; if you lose it, create a new key pair rather than trying to recover it.

## Allow InfraNest's IP address
Dynadot only accepts API calls from IP addresses you've approved.

1. Go to the **Tools** → **API** page in Dynadot.
2. Find the IP address shown in InfraNest's Dynadot connect form.
3. Add that IP address to the allowed list in Dynadot.

> [!NOTE]
> Without this step, every request is refused no matter how correct your key is.

## Optional: live updates by webhook
Dynadot can notify InfraNest when something changes, instead of waiting for the next sync. This is optional — everything works without it, just less immediately.

1. On the **Tools** → **API** page, set the **callback URL** to the address shown in InfraNest's connect form.
2. Dynadot then shows a **Webhook key** and a **Webhook secret**.
3. Paste both into InfraNest.
