WHOIS server overrides let you tell InfraNest which server to check for a specific domain ending, for the rare cases where the automatic choice is wrong or missing. This is for anyone managing domain lookups who has run into an unusual domain ending that InfraNest doesn't resolve correctly on its own.

Overview

  • For most domain endings, InfraNest automatically finds the right WHOIS server to check.
  • Overrides let you manually set the server to use for a specific ending, in case the automatic choice is wrong or missing.
  • Overrides apply to your organisation's lookups, including drop-catch and domain WHOIS checks.

Add an override

  1. Go to WHOIS Overrides.
  2. Add the domain ending (TLD) and the WHOIS server to use for it.

WHOIS server overrides

  1. Select Save. InfraNest will use your server for that ending when it looks up availability and WHOIS details.

NoteYou only need to set an override for unusual endings where the automatic lookup doesn't work — most people never need to touch this.
